Situated 65 kilometres from Port Hardy along the rough gravel road which leads to Cape Scott Provincial Park on Northern Vancouver Island, Ronning Garden is an small oasis which features exotic trees, shrubs, and pretty flowers.
There's a medley of blooms from colourful spring bulbs to old rhododendron plants which bloom in early summer. The Ronning Garden property is laced with exotic monkey puzzle trees, as well as Maple, beech, and oak trees whose colourful leaves litter the ground in fall.
Ronning Garden was established by a Norwegian gentleman called Bernt Ronning who built his homestead there near Holberg in 1910. Bernt Ronning developed the garden from seeds and cuttings in order to create his wilderness paradise.
A ten minute walk along a stored section of the Old San Josef Wagon Road brings visitors to the clearing which is Ronning Garden.
